Initial Denture Appointment

1.
Initial Appointment

If you would like to fill in some gaps in your smile, get in touch for your initial appointment. Our clinic is a relaxed and calm environment designed to help you feel at ease as we start designing your new set of partial dentures.

Design Your Smile

2.
Design Your Smile

Getting a new set of partial dentures is a personal journey. We work with you to design partial dentures that you can look and feel your best in. You can also explore our numerous material options/samples to choose what suits you best.

Denture Treatment Plan

3.
Treatment Plan

When you’re ready to take the next step, we design your personalised treatment plan. Most people require four appointments over the course of a month. Plan for one appointment a week though if you have custom requirements, it may take a little longer, and we will walk you through the process so you know exactly what will happen at each appointment.

First Denture Treatment

4.
First Treatment Appointment

We will assess your existing tooth and bone structure. We’ll also take impressions from which we create a mould of your mouth structure. This is how we can ensure the best fit of your partial denture.

Second Denture Treatment

5.
Second Treatment Appointment

In your next treatment, we will take your bite registration, which clinically records your bite, using bite blocks so we can ensure your partial denture fits well. In this appointment, you will also get to select the shape and colour of your teeth.

Try-In Appointment

6.
Try-In Appointment

Your third visit to our denture studio will be a ‘try-in’ where we insert a wax model of your partial denture, with all teeth in place, so you can see what it will look like. You can request any changes you like to ensure we get the perfect fit and a natural-looking smile you love.

Final Denture Appointment

7.
The Big Day

Your fourth and final appointment is the big day! You’ll get your new partial denture fitted, and you’ll walk out of here knowing you can smile and eat with ease and comfort. We’ll also advise you on how to best care for your dentures, so they last you as long as possible.

What Are Partial Dentures?

What are partial dentures?

Partial dentures are removable prosthetic devices that are constructed to replace missing teeth and give the appearance of a full smile. No matter the reason you may be missing teeth, partial dentures can help restore your confident smile.

Our partial dentures are tailor-made right here in our clinic. They are removable prosthetic devices that are designed to clasp onto your existing teeth. That’s how they stay in place.

You have a wide range of options from the material to the shape and colour of the teeth so your new partial denture can seamlessly blend into your existing smile.

If you’re not sure we’ll discuss the best option for you during your initial appointment with us.

What is a partial upper denture?

A partial upper denture consists of artificial teeth, gums, and a metal plate that covers the roof of your mouth so that it can stay in place. We can create two types of partial upper dentures depending on whether you want the palate of your mouth covered or exposed for a greater sense of taste.

What is a partial lower denture?

A lower partial denture is shaped like a horseshoe and is designed to rest securely on your gum and jawbone structure while clasping securely to the remaining bottom teeth.

Interest-Free Payment Plans for Partial Dentures

Pay your partial dentures off in comfortable instalments so you’re not left out of pocket. Now that’s something worth smiling about!

Aftercare & Troubleshooting Partial Denture Problems

Why get partial dentures?

If you’re missing a few teeth and want to restore your smile, partial dentures are most likely the best solution for you. They are designed to fill in unsightly gaps with replaceable, natural-looking teeth.

More importantly, perhaps, partial dentures offer more stability and comfort compared to a chrome metal denture. They adapt to the changing position of your jaw while talking, chewing or yawning.

They also seamlessly adjust to all the micro-movements of your tongue and unlike rigid dentures, there is less risk they compromise your facial structure.

You can easily restore your confidence with Tweed Coast Denture Studio by your side!

Why Get Partial Dentures
Partial Dentures For Gaps in Your Smile

Are partial dentures suitable for everyone?

Most people looking to fill in the gaps in their smiles will benefit from a partial denture. You can regain your natural-looking, confident smile and your ability to comfortably eat with a partial denture!

However, if you are missing most of your natural teeth, a full denture or an implant-retained denture may be better suited to your situation.

We also do not advise removable partial dentures for anyone who experiences seizures, as they can become a choking hazard.

Is it easy to adjust to partial dentures?

Just like your first set of glasses, adjusting to your new partial dentures can take some time, especially if it’s your first denture experience. Your mouth may feel weird with all these new teeth and a prosthetic device that rests directly on your sensitive gum tissue. This is totally normal!

But, like all things in life, given enough time, you’ll grow used to the feeling and won’t remember what eating and speaking were like pre-denture.

In saying this, what’s not normal is feeling any sense of pain or intense discomfort. If that’s what you’re feeling after a new denture (even if we didn’t make it), we will adjust it immediately, so you get the most comfortable fit possible. We won’t stop until we get it right and you’re happy with the look and feel.

Denture Addition

What if I lose one of my teeth?

If you have lost another tooth after getting your dentures, there’s no need to worry. All of the partial dentures that we make at Tweed Coast Denture Studio can be added to at any point in time.

We call this service a “denture addition” and in most cases, we can add a new tooth as a same-day treatment. We will require a new impression to be taken and this service can also be offered as an immediate solution if your dentist needs to extract a tooth.

No matter your circumstances, we can help fill in any gaps in your smile as soon as possible!

Frequently Asked Questions

If you are missing (or need to replace) all of your natural teeth, full dentures are the best option for you. However, if you are only missing a few natural teeth, partial dentures will be a more appropriate solution. Not only are partial dentures more cost-effective, but they also ensure you don’t need to get your remaining healthy teeth removed just to fit in a complete set of false teeth.

Dentures last a long time with proper care and regular checks with your dental prosthetist. If you choose an acrylic partial denture, you can expect it to last an average of 5 to 7 years. Whereas a chrome cobalt denture typically lasts an average of 5 to 10 years.

In either case, your denture should be relined every couple of years so you can maintain a good fit.

Partial dentures will not damage natural teeth if you take care of your oral hygiene and appropriately maintain your denture. Make sure you follow these steps:

  • Do not give plaque a chance to build up
  • Brush and floss twice a day
  • Clean your dentures frequently and properly
  • Don’t overtighten your metal clasps
  • Visit us immediately if you feel pinching or pain

Damage to adjacent teeth usually occurs from poor dental care and neglecting to maintain your denture, and we cannot stress this enough! Look after your dentures and teeth following the aftercare tips we’ll share with you at your initial appointment with us, and you should have no problem maintaining the integrity of your remaining natural teeth.
